September 2008
Polka/West Coast Swing – Crossover Moves | September 6, 2008
Have you ever been at the C&W bar dancing West Coast Swing and Polka – at the same time? Of course, you have. Did you know that it’s cool to actually move from one dance to the other during the same song? And since “Being Cool” is rule # 3, we all want to know how lead/follow ways to move from Polka to West Coast Swing and back again.
So if you know Polka and West Coast Swing, come on out. Let’s learn how to enjoy our dancing experiences even more.
Night Club/Two-Step – Crossover Moves | September 27, 2008
Ok! So, we’re learning Night Club. We go out to the club and try to dance Night Club only to be overwhelmed by all the Two-Step dancers. Nothing wrong with dancing a nice, slow Two-Step. It’s just of cool (again – Rule # 3) moving between the two dances, especially when you start to get crowded.
So, start with Night Club, get crowded, switch over to Two-Step to find a new spot, then go back to Night Club. We’ll even talk about how to move your Night Club around from one spot to another.
October 2008
Hitting the Breaks – WCS in the Bars | October 4, 2008
Now! You’ve had Hitting the Breaks (with lots of instructors – probably) and Riding the Waves – What to Do between the Breaks. BUT, you’ve been in the bars and the music they’re playing is faster than what was used in the workshops. CRAP!!! It’s faster than the practice music in the classes.
So, let’s use the faster bar music – the stuff to which you really dance when out at the clubs. We’ll figure out a few break patterns and play with the music. Ladies, I’ll give you a way to hit the break (without messing up your man’s plan) if your man is still figuring it out.
November 2008
Dirty Dancing III – West Coast Swing Style | November 22, 2008
You’ve taken the Dirty Dancing – Slow Dance Style; you’ve had the Dirty Dancing – Bachata Style. Each time we offered a workshop like this you asked for the WCS. We waited all year. You take WCS classes. You go out dancing. Holiday season is around the corner with all it’s dancing. And often, you find yourself with that special someone – late at night more often. Shoot, you might be out, or you might be in!!!
So, it sounds like the perfect time of year. Let’s now take some of our most basic moves and modify them just a little to add a little romance and spice to your WCS. Don’t come alone; you have to bring someone to dance with only you. I guarantee that you’ll leave with a smile.
December 2008
Slow Dancing for the Holidays | TBA
Don’t you just hate being at the office Christmas (wait, we have to say “Holiday”) party and watching someone else better than you get out there and impress the co-workers? Don’t you just hate standing there at ANY party and not really know how to handle the really slow music?
So, here’s our last chance of the year to get ready to impress, well, gosh, at this point we be happy to just impress us and our dates. But wouldn’t it be nice to have figured it out a little better. I say YES!!!
