Private Dance Lessons

Private dance class.

I remember talking to several dance instructors here in Houston and Clear Lake over the past few years about the best way to learn dance. Shoot, I guess that I have actually talked to dance instructors from all over the country. All agree on the following principle:

The best to learn to dance well is to take group classes, private lessons, and practice, practice, practice.

Of the three, practice (times three) is the most important (period – end of story). Group classes and private lessons have to be considered based on an individual’s priorities. Check out my group lessons.

Private lessons are a wonderful way to get ready for group classes when you’re one of the nervous type individuals. It doesn’t matter what you’re nervous about. It just matters that you are (nervous). So, take some lessons to get comfortable with the concepts and basic patterns.

There are other reasons for taking private lessons:

• You want to get a better of the basic lead/follow.

• You want to get a handle on the moves that were taught in class.

• You want to move a little faster than the class.

• You are ready to start learning the nuances that differentiate similar moves.

• You are taking a class in one dance and just want to get familiar with another dance. For example, you’re taking a class in two-step and want to transfer the patterns to polka.

• You have decided to compete.

• You are getting married.

Like I said – lots of reasons.

Private lessons typically cost $60.00 per hour (55 minutes – I too get thirsty, need to return phone calls, etc.). You should contact me for information on the times that you are available. I offer private lessons out of several studios – typically Shall We Dance, The Dance Place, and The Melody Club. But I do offer private dance lessons at other locations.
