Group Dance Lessons
I remember talking to several dance instructors here in Houston and Clear Lake over the past few years about the best way to learn dance. Shoot, I guess that I have actually talked to dance instructors from all over the country. All agree on the following principle:
The best way to learn to dance well is to take group classes, private lessons, and practice, practice, practice.
Of the three, practice (times three) is the most important (period – end of story). Group classes and private lessons have to be considered based on an individual’s priorities. Check out my private lessons.
Group classes are a wonderful inexpensive way to be introduced to a dance. These classes offer you an opportunity to learn the basic moves/patterns and concepts with several other students. Group dance classes also present people with several leads and follows. Group classes should rotate often affording you with a wealth of friends to practice with (and on). The more practice you get with more people, the better you’ll be at leading or following. Finally, group classes offer you an opportunity to meet and to make more friends.
In fact, I believe that one of the reasons that our classes do so well is specifically because of the friendliness of the individuals in the classes. It’s almost like walking into a group of friends. Well, it’s exactly like that. You get to be with lots of other people having fun.
